Happening from September 30 to November 21 of this year is Household Gods – an art exhibition featuring the work of four Hong Kong artists – Nadim Abbas, Shane Aspegren, Tap Chan, and Wu Jiaru. This interactive exhibition that showcases different forms of art including painting, sculpture, installation and sound work takes place at HART Hall and a virtual setting. It delivers a fresh perspective on the world’s ongoing turmoil and sparks a conversation on the way both art and creativity make people strong.
As an outcome of the organisation HART‘s art programming Hart Social Studio, the exhibition aims to give importance to the process leading up to the final creation. By revealing behind the scene conversations between the artists and the curator through a documented series, the audience is bestowed with another layer of meaning for each piece. The series releases on August 28, 2020.
Giving a deep insight into the exhibit, Ying Kwok, the curator of Household Gold said, “it is often claimed that we live in a secular age. But our minds are still very much sensitive to supernatural thoughts and feelings. The insight Nadim Abbas, Shane Aspegren, Tap Chan, and Wu Jiaru have shown when exploring human habits, rituals and emotions offer fresh viewpoints of modern life and the power of visual language on something more divine.”
