With the current quarantine mode, most of us are staying home and there is almost no need for fancy footwear for the time being. However, lucky for us a good pair of footwear refashioned with rainbow colours will never go out of style. In that note, here are five brands that have released new footwear to support the LGBTQ+ community as we celebrate this year’s pride month.
Ruthie Davis

If you prefer to go chic with pumps or bold with jogging shoes, Ruthie Davis‘s Pride Collection is offering both with its Pride Pump and Pride Kick respectively. While both the footwear are covered in rainbow colours, the Pride Pump is accentuated with the word LOVE written in white and bold and the Pride Kick features white lace and white platforms. As parts of the Summer 2020 collection too, the Pride Pump can be ordered now and the Pride Kick can be pre-ordered. More importantly, the label will be donating 20% of the sale from these shoes to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center of New York City.
Reef

The Argentine brand Reef that is well-loved for its casual and comfortable footwear released its second pride month collection this year. The brand has revamped its pre-existing footwear – Reef One Slide, Reef Escape Mule Prints, and Reef Deckhand 3 TX with rainbow colours giving them an attractive and meaningful finish. More importantly, according to the brand’s official website, 25% of profits from the collection will go to PFlag National, a non- profit organisation that promotes LGBTQ+ equality.
UGG

UGG dropped its special #UGGPRIDE collection that celebrates gender equality with loafers that are perfect for all genders. The capsule collection boasts three renditions of the Pride Fluff Yeah Slides and the Disco Checker Slides. There are also options for kids and toddlers available with the Rainbow Fluff Yeah Slide. In addition to adding a style statement with different shades, the label is also donating US$250,000 to the LGBTQ+ organisation named GLAAD. More importantly, the collection will be available throughout the year.
Teva

The footwear brand Teva dropped its The Rainbow Pride Pack in celebration of pride month. The label’s sandals are upgraded with rainbow-coloured-straps resulting in six fashionable pieces. Moreover, this collection promotes gender equality with its gender-inclusivity. The line also has different platform heights. More importantly, the brand is partnering up with the non-profit organisation It Gets Better Project that supports LGBTQ youngsters around the world. According to Teva’s official site, the label will be making a donation to the organisation.
Converse

Inspired by the motto “More Colour, More Pride” coined by social justice advocate Amber Hikes is this year’s Converse Pride Collection. Featuring a wide range of designs, these versatile sneakers – Chuck 70, Chuck Taylor All Star, and Chuck Taylor All Star Platform – can be customised by you. From something as minute as the eyelet to the body of the converse can be redesigned the way you like it. There are pre-designed options available too. Moreover, the collection also includes bucket hats, t-shirts, and caps.
